Originally from Lowestoft in Suffolk, Emily Lawler is a York-based freelance musician with a multifaceted portfolio of work including performing, recording, composing/songwriting, and community music work.

Having previously led the Suffolk Youth Orchestra, she has more recently studied a Master's degree in Community Music and immersed herself in the worlds of folkĀ and country musics, playing with various UK artists including Dan Webster, Skylights, and Alistair Griffin, as well as with international touring acts Lachlan Bryan and the Wildes (AUS), Riley Catherall (AUS), Ben de la Cour (USA), and The Weeping Willows (AUS).

Though primarily a classical-violinist-turned-fiddle-player, they picked up a guitar to alleviate the loneliness and monotony of lockdown which - to her (pleasant!) surprise - soon evolved into playing gigs and writing her own material. With an ethereal, folky atmosphere, her songs are tinged with a love for the eclectic and the macabre and have won praise across the UK and Australia.
